Hope everyone is having a wonderful Friday and looking forward to the weekend!....I'll be working this weekend..(Saturday only)...YAY!
I left off yesterday with this post about my 16 year old son and his pallet bed....Remember this picture of him building houses for a non-profit on the Navajo Indian Nation in Crownpoint, NM.
I am still working on his room but I wanted to share the "how to's" on his pallet bed.....I am hoping he likes it!
Before he left, he had mentioned wanting a futon in his room, however, he never decided on a particular one.....After seeing this on Prudent Baby and this one on Jilly and Mia.....I decided he would get a pallet
bed......
Pallet's were not easy for me to find, plus I was really concerned about the chemicals they use to treat the wood......So we made our own pallet's from 2x4's, cut 40 inches long and 1x3's, cut 80 inches long.....It measures 40x80, plenty of room for a twin mattress. Purchased @ Lowes, cost $38.
We attached 6 castors/wheels(with locks), two in the middle and 4 on each end....Purchased @ Lowes, cost $25.
I then weathered the wood following Alison's tutorial @ Fab Rehab Creations using vinegar and steel wool. I was amazed how
quickly the wood looked weathered.
I have been also painting this guy for his room......It's a dresser he has had since he was 4.....it needed an updated look!!!
See you next week with this finished HUNK!
