A Tree Stump Table

Yeah,  Yeah.....I know, I am a little late to the tree stump table "PARTAY"......but better late than never...right?......As you can see, Hubby and I were a little busy on Saturday turning this.....

into this......

Don't you just love my "dirty" old Sperry's......haha! I always leave them by the front door and when I took my first picture I did not even notice them....sooooo, instead of taking the picture over I left them, they are my favorite summer time shoes, so comfy!

Hey guys, remember those antlers from last December....I am still loving them!

Thanks to these wonderful bloggers (and West Elm) for inspiring my weekend project......

The Nester....she left the bark on hers and then added castors.....I love that look too!
Karen @The Art of Doing Stuff added some Ikea legs to hers for a modern feel...check it out!
From Gardners two Bergers scrapped hers like mine and has a wonderful tutorial on the process, don't miss that!

Seriously, with all that wonderful inspiration, plus all this wood, what else do you do?....In the last 2 yrs., we have lost two large trees in our back yard (I'm blaming it on the drought here in Texas).....
So, after we cut down the last tree, I said...."Hey Honey,  I got an idea, or should I say West Elm and a bunch of bloggers gave me an idea", haha!....Of course, that stump sat in the garage for the last 6 months waiting for hubby and I to work our magic......On Saturday, our magic began, with chainsaw in hand we cut our lovely stump. That was the easy part, the hard part was scraping all the bark off...several times during that process I thought, "why do I want a stump table"?

After the cutting and scraping, we used a belt sander to smooth out the top.......My original idea was to paint it white like this......I love what Alicia @  Thrifty and Chic did with her 3 stumps....

But after mine was scrapped and sanded I was in love with the natural grain of the wood and kept it 'ole natural.

Hope you have a wonderful day and thanks for coming by!

Come join me as I share this @.....

  5. AWESOME!!! I love it! I plan to do a more rustic version for our backyard when we cut our big menacing tree down. I love trees, but the roots from this big beast are popping up in the front yard (and the tree is in the back yard. yikes :)

  9. ooohhh I love it!!! With my hoarder traits in over drive, I have had a tree stump sitting around in our garage for forever that I wouldn't let my hubby touch because I was "gonna do something with it" {that's always what I say when he wants to get rid of my junk}. Anyways, I finally let him get rid of it and now I want it back... waaahhh!!! You have inspired me to scrounge up another stump.

  11. Hi, stopping by from Coastal Charm's NTT party. Love your tree stump table. Too bad about the lost trees but at least now you have a stylish reminder of them. Gotta love our favourite shoes, and with two young teens there are always shoes in our entry.

  13. How awesome! I really like this! We just turned one of our spare bedrooms into what my husband calls, "The Whitetail Room". Has all hunting and rustic things in it. This would be such an added treasure! Thanks for sharing. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
