HAPPY MONDAY EVENING TO EVERYONE!!!
Thanks to everyone for the sweet comments and well wishes, last week!....The kids and I had a great time hanging out at home over Spring Break! They are back to school and I am back to work too! Before Spring Break, I showed you a bench I had been working on....It started out as a thrift store coffee table.
I took it apart.....
Cut the top down to be flush with the frame...
Sanded, primed and painted it....then, reinforced the corners with screws...
Added 2 layers of foam...
I upholstered the cut down table top with some fabric....Yes, I splurged on this fabric, Kelly @ High Street Market was ordering some of this lovely stuff and offered her designer discount to her readers....Kelly has a wonderful blog, go check her out, you will not be disappointed! I took Kelly up on her reader discount...After all, the second hand coffee table only cost me $20, so I figured a splurge on the fabric was O.K. FYI, I only needed a yard for this project! YEAH!
And now it looks like this.......
It is the newest addition to my bedroom makeover.
Here is a sneak peek at my slowly changing bedroom. After new paint, lamps, bench makeover, and shopping the house, I am finally seeing it reflect it's new style......Yes, I did put a chalkboard in there, what do you think? Maybe it is too much?......I am still debating making a new headboard.....Any opinions?! Later this week, I'll post another furniture makeover I am working on...a nightstand for my room......But for now, I'm off to catch up on all the great blog postings I missed last week! I am glad to be back!

Welcome back Lisa! I love the bench!! What a great idea to make it out of a table. The fabric is beautiful too.
ReplyDeleteI definitely want to try something like this. Thanks for sharing.
Pam
The finished bench looks like it was always there, the look is so good. Looking at the finished project, who could every guess. Thank you for sharing.

It turned out so cute! I love the bench!! :)
ReplyDeleteLisa,
ReplyDeleteYour bench looks outstanding and I think the chalkboard looks really great where you have it...it's different and I like it that way!
Blessings,
Linda
That looks so great Lisa, what a transformation! I don't think you need a new headboard at all. I love metal beds, they go with everything. ~Tricia
ReplyDeleteFabulous job...love that material...adding you to my blog list for sure xx
ReplyDeleteVery cute and such a great transformation!
ReplyDeleteKim:)
It's getting wild in there! Great tutorial, you made it look so easy, all it takes it a little foresight to make something dumpy into awesome.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! Turned out so nice and is perfect at the foot of your bed! Headboard ideas...I don't have one but love them upholstered.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what you do!
You go girl! I will have fun decorating vicariously!
ReplyDeleteLove the bench! So smart to cut the overhang off the table edge. It looks like it was always a bench, now.
ReplyDeleteI like your iron bed, but for an update, maybe you could make a slipcover for it. I'm envisioning a padded rectangle of fabric simply folded over the top, so that the posts get to hang out and announce that there's a gorgeous iron bed underneath, with flirty ribbon ties on the sides, corset style.
Can't wait to see the bedroom's final reveal. Thanks for sharing.
I love your bench. The fabric is great. Love the use of the coffee table.
ReplyDeleteLove the bench idea.... so creative. I want a bench somewhere!
ReplyDeleteLooks beautiful Lisa! I love that fabric!
ReplyDeleteI am a sucker for benches and that one looks SO high end! I am in the process of doing a coffee table to bench too...mine won't look that good! Nice work.
ReplyDeleteYou are super woman. That bench is fabulous!
ReplyDeleteLove it! The fabric you picked looks awesome!
ReplyDeleteIt looks fabulous! Way to spend the money where it will have the most dramatic impact! I love it.
ReplyDeleteI like your headboard the way it is. I'm sure if you changed something about it, it would be great too, but its great now too. I'm not sure about the chalkboard. Its quirky there, which I like.
Welcome back! Missed you!
Looks awesome...great job!

ReplyDeleteLove the new bench and the fabric! I can't believe you transformed that coffee table into a stylish piece for your bedroom. You are talented Lisa!
ReplyDeleteOh I am so impressed! Who would have ever thought of making a bench out of an old coffee table. Wow. And is that your saw in that picture, and if so, do you use it. If your answer is yes and yes, I am doubly impressed! I gotta go find me and old coffee table. Great Job!
ReplyDeleteGlad to have you back Lisa. What a fantastic project. I'm impressed with your carpentry skills!! The fabric is gorgeous and slightly reminiscent of my new pillows (not here yet but I'll be sure to let you know).

I love the bench. It's come up beautifully.
ReplyDeleteCheers,

What a smart idea. I love that you repurposed the table my cutting it down. Benches are so versatile that you could move this around your house or recover it if you want it in another space in your home.I'm sure that many basements hold unused coffee tables that will be turning into benches.
ReplyDeleteYour bench is gorgeous! Love the fabric and always like a bench at the foot of the bed.
ReplyDeleteI have been wanting to make one of these for in front of our sofa, your bench turned out absolutely beautiful and thank you for the step by step.

ReplyDeleteIt looks lovely! Great job!
ReplyDeleteThat is gorgeous!
ReplyDeletePlease do take my word for it on that chalk paint..worth every dime. I never painted with such ease and no smell and clean up was a breeze...even the paint I got on my hands, brushes were easy too...amazing!
I love that bench. It came out amazing. Thanks for sharing at my Swing into Spring party.
ReplyDeleteIt looks Amazing!! What's even more amazing is that you could see it's potential and make it happen! Love how the room is coming along!

Well...that was a whole lot of work but it was worth it! Looks so good and I agree...sometimes you need to splurge on some pretty fabric!
ReplyDeleteLove your bench! What a fun transformation! The fabric looks great! Just found your blog and glad I did!
ReplyDeleteLove the bench as well as the one you refinished in the entry (or was it the mudroom). Anywho, I have a question about the foam you used. Did I spy egg crate foam doubled over? Also, did you use batting on top of the foam?
ReplyDeleteThanks!
I featured your bench at my Swing into Spring party today. Please stop by and grab an "I've Been Featured" button. Thanks.

Lovely greetings and big hugs from germany...
I love how it has a somewhat dalmatian color look to it. The fabric I mean. It reminds me of a dalmatian dog. All you need in that room is a dalmatian dog for the room to be complete. I can't wait to see the other changes you make to your room.
